Saddleback Leather Products
OK, so what is Saddleback Leather, what's Crane's got to do with this and how do I buy this cool stuff?
Saddleback Leather is the brain child of Dave Munson, El Presidente of the company. It seems Dave had a problem when he was gallivanting all over the place back in the nineties. He just couldn't find a tough durable leather bag that was to his liking. Well it seems that necessity is the mother of invention and Dave jumped right in with both feet. He set out to design and manufacture the perfect bag. That was over a decade ago and he's still at it. You can read more about
how it all started here.
Well now you know a bit more about SB so let's talk about what's going on with Crane's and Saddleback Leather. Well being the good little webmaster that I am part of my job is to look for cool products we might be interested in acquiring, selling, or otherwise market. Being a good webmaster is much more than just keeping the place running or writing cryptic code.
Back to the story. We've been advertising on a site called
Styleforum for a while now. I've known about SB for a long time and every now and then I would drop a link to their site when someone asked where they could get some good leather products at a decent price. I'm not sure if Fok contacted SB about advertising on the site or if Jonathon Munson tracked hits back to SF. Jonathan is Saddleback's webmaster and business development guy. However it happened Saddleback Leather became an advertiser on the site with a banner ad and an
affiliate thread where they talk about their products and answer questions. Over time I learned much about their products and was very impressed with what they were doing and how they conducted business in general. The way they do things sounds pretty much how we do things at Crane's. It's all about good products at a reasonable price with exceptional customer service.
I contacted Jonathan earlier in the year about doing business together. He was interested and ran it by El Presidente and Chuck Bowen, the CEO of the company. One thing led to another and culminated with a conference call between Jonathan, Chuck and myself. We talked about several things including what you see on this site. This is only the beginning of what everyone agrees could be a very good thing for all of us.
You can follow what we are up to on
Saddleback's affiliate thread on SF. It'll be worth your time.
So now to answer the question on how to buy a Saddleback Leather product.
Well all you have to do is click on one of the product pictures above and a new window will open up to one of Crane's landing pages on Saddleback's website. From there all you have to do is find what you like and then go through the checkout process. Saddleback will then send the product directly to you. We decided to go this route because it's the easiest way to program things to get it all to work and it expedites your order. When programming always remember the KISS rule. Always.
