Dickies 1922 Collection

In 1922, two cousins founded the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company in Fort Worth, Texas and brought the Dickies® brand to life. Their first product, tough-as-nails bib overalls, spread the Dickies name across America. Dickies followed this success with the creation of well-made yet affordable pants and shirts, sewn from the toughest twill fabric available. Over the years, Dickies introduced a host of innovations including brass zippers, and the first permanent press finish. More than eight decades later, Dickies manufactures a broad range of clothes for hardworking people throughout the world. Still, the Dickies matched set remains the very definition of authenticity, honest value, and uncomplicated style.

The Dickies 1922 Collection celebrates the true roots of American Workwear through authentic replica products manufactured exactly the same as when they were first introduced to the market over the past century. Crafted and executed to the most minute historic detail, the limited edition pieces are the true roots of American Work Wear and Dickies 1922. It is manufactured in one of the oldest continually operating Dickies facilities in Uvalde, Texas.

Recreated using Cramerton® military-grade twill, first produced for the U.S. Army in 1931, these garments are exact replicas of Dickies clothing worn by hardworking individuals in the years following the Great Depression. The fabric is woven on narrow looms, with selvage, using ring spun, plied yarns. Pants and shirts preserved in Dickies® archives (some torn and mended by the original owners), served as working models for this limited edition collection. As befits a classic American brand, these pants and shirts are patterned, cut, sewn and finished in the U.S.A.

These items precisely reflect the cut and fit of men's wear in the late 1930's. The shirts are trim through the midsection with a high armhole. The pants are full cut with plenty of hip and seat room. The patterns are exact recreations, crafted by a master pattern maker, who learned his skills over 50 years ago, and was mentored by fine tailors from the 1930's. Allowances have been made for garment shrinkage of about one inch in length and circumference. Pants should measure to the specified size after washing.
