As I write this, we have rain once again. It’s hard to complain about rain when you know come July and August we’ll be begging for it, but a break now and then is nice. I did get a first mowing in, but the back and forth warm weather, then the rain, means this will be a great grass growing Spring.
Shots are being distributed and we are seeing more and more travelers here at the store and the museum. As for now, we are still going to keep our masks on, even though we’ve all been vaccinated, until the final studies are in on transmission of the virus. We want to keep you, our customers safe, and our families at home.
Also, as of this writing, Shanellen has not had her baby. You probably noticed you haven’t seen her around the store lately. She is on bed rest till her due date of May 1st, so hopefully next issue we’ll have baby news. Watch our social media for updates!
Lastly, graduation is just around the corner. Our students of all ages have had quite the year and a half. We are mindful of the stresses they have endured and the new challenges for them ahead. We wish all of our graduates good luck, and next issue we’ll talk about some of our staff and what their next plans are. See you ‘round the stove!
Annual Garage Sale
Williamsburg's annual garage sale will be held Friday and Saturday, April 16th and 17th from 9am to 3:30pm at the Williamsburg Community Center.
Spring has Sprung

The air smells like a beautiful spring morning in Missouri, and that has been helpful to reminisce on memories from back home. While it has been warm for awhile, it is warm and is now staying warm. With it comes all kinds of rain. If I had a dollar for how many times I have mentioned how much it rains...well I could buy an umbrella. For whatever reason the work tempo speeds up drastically in the spring and summer. Which is fine by me, since it helps the weeks go fast. The ocean is still a little bit chilly, but the beaches have been making great places for weekend trips. Right now is the prime time to explore the island, and I shall utilize that time.
Bundt Pan Coffee Cake

- 1 box white cake mix
- ½ cup sugar
- ¾ cup oil
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 eggs
- 3 tsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup chopped nuts
Mix first five ingredients. Place half of the batter in a well greased and floured bundt pan. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and nut mixture, then add remaining patter.
Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for one hour. Ice with powdered sugar and milk glaze.
Callaway County Tourism

Fulton - Callaway County Tourism has launched a new marketing campaign encouraging Missourians to “Get Away the Callaway.” A new website for www.VisitFulton.com website has been launched and a series of print and digital ads are coming out this spring.
The events section of at VisitFulton.com lists county-wide events that would be of interest to visitors. Current listings include Spring Renaissance Festival in Kingdom City, May 1 - 2; Callaway Singers concerts with dinner and brunch events Mother’s Day weekend at Fulton’s Brick District Playhouse, May 8-9; Callaway 200 bicentennial concert featuring Shenandoah, August 28 at the Callaway Electric Coop; Mokane Lions Club Fall festival Sept 4-6, and more.
The calendar is updated as the tourism office receives notifications.
